Counseling Groups
Friendship:
Boys-getting along, differences, positive behaviors, cooperation, etc.
Girls-getting along, cooperation, inclusion, acceptance, gossip, forgiveness, etc.
Newcomers Lunch: Usually just a one time lunch meeting with the counselor to talk about adjusting to a new school and developing positive friendships with peers. (no permission needed if only a one time meeting)
Kids Connection: Celebrate special qualities, feelings, staying calm, goal setting, making healthy choices, friendships, & resisting negative peer pressure
Why Try: Answers the question, "Why try in life?" Also addresses frustration, confusion and angry feelings at life's pressures and challenges. The program teaches students that trying hard in life and putting effort into challenges at home, school, and with peers is worth the effort.
"LIFE" (Living In Families Everyday): Addresses topics such as self-esteem, feelings, parent separation, divorce, remarriage, blended families, adoption, temporary placement, and other unique family situations (appropriate for the group).
Popcorn (Grief): Feelings of loss over the death of a loved one, the cycle of life and coping skills
Study Skills: Addresses good study habits, organization, time management skills and test taking strategies
